Edwin Gilmore was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He attended Miami Dade College in Miami, FL where he studied Fine Art Photography using black & white film, color film, and digital techniques. He also completed his BFA at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ working with alternative processes that include cyanotype, gum bichromate, platinum palladium, wet plate collodion, and salt printing. Gilmore investigates the historical resonances embedded within contemporary landscapes, employing digital compositing techniques to integrate archival or symbolic imagery into his photographic scenes. Through this process, he constructs layered visual narratives that foreground the interplay between place, memory, and representation.
